The skin under the chin and neck can age faster than face causing the neck skin losing its elasticity and the jaw line losing its shape. Having lost a considerable amount of weight can also cause the neck skin sagging and drooping chin.
The neck lift uses a similar technique to the face lift by tightening the underlying neck muscles to restore a more youthful and tight looking jawline. The neck lift is often combined with other procedures, especially with face lift.

NECK LIFT SURGERY
If the surgery corrects the neck muscles (platysmaplasty), small incisions are made under the chin or behind the ears to reach the neck muscles and tighten them as needed. Cervicoplasty surgery corrects loose and sagging skin, when the skin is trimmed, moved it into place and secured. Once the muscle has been tightened and any excess fat removed, the skin is re-draped over the neck and the incisions are closed with sutures or tissue glue.

AFTER YOUR NECK LIFT
A compression bandage is fitted to help reduce postoperative swelling for a week after neck lift surgery. Drains are used to remove blood or other fluids from a wound to help healing and reduce discomfort. These are removed after 1-2 day. The neck may be swollen and bruised for few days after neck lift. The patient may need to sleep in an elevated position for around two days. Any remaining stitches can be removed after 10 days. There may be some numbness or pain, replaced by itching which can take up to six months to stop as the nerves heal. As the swelling subsides, the neck should appear firmer, less lined, and more youthful in appearance.
RECOVERY TIME AFTER YOUR NECK LIFT

- Very light activities after few days.
- No strenuous activities for 3 weeks.
