General health is sufficient for all commercial flights. It is thus important to consider that commercial aircrafts fly as high as 35,000 feet above the sea level and the pressure in the cabin is regulated by the outflow valve to make sure that the environment is safe and comfortable for the passengers who might have some health problems such as communicative diseases, history of stroke, heart attack, contagious diseases and other serious illnesses.
What complications can flying cause?
Plastic surgery is not listed among medical conditions that require fit to fly certificate. In case of blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), some swelling and bruising might occur, however it does not put you at risk during the flight.
You are safe to travel by plane within five days after the blepharoplasty providing you refrain from lifting heavy objects, hard work and direct exposure to the sun.
Risk of DVT
If you are planning to fly after the breast augmentation surgery, you should know that the journey is only recommended after at least the first post-operative check. You do not have to worry about the breast implants to be damaged during the flight.
However, it is very essential that you feel fit and your general physical condition allows you to fly in order to prevent Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT). The risk of DVT is higher after extensive surgery such as tummy tuck, combined surgeries and those that involve general anesthesia.
Ultra-long intercontinental flights are thus not recommended sooner than 2 weeks after you have undergone an extensive plastic surgery. Shorter flights are considered safe after one week from the surgery. As it happens, the flight from the UK to Kosice is only 1 hour and 50 minutes (approx.).
