What is a Standard Abdominoplasty?
This procedure involves two major incisions and is often combined with liposuction so that the best results are achieved. One of the incisions passes from one hip to the other hip slightly above the pubic area, lead carefully under a lower abdominal crease. In case a female client has already a cesarean section done in past, the incision passes through. Secondary incision is needed to free navel from its position in the surrounding skin.
Muscles are revealed by detaching the skin from the abdominal wall and subsequently non-absorbable sutures are used to tighten muscle fascia wall by restoring stretched muscles.
This will make the abdominal wall flat. The navel will be reconstructed as last point of the procedure. It will be fixated to its new position. Once this is done, the wound will be stitched. Special attention must be paid to retain sufficient blood circulation and integrity of the authentic navel. Our skillful surgeons always keep this on their radar.
The scope of the surgery is quite extensive and affects deep levels of tissue. Therefore the recovery period is long and clients feel pain and present limited physical abilities within 2-3 days after the surgery.
On top of that, a drainage tube is usually placed for about 5-7 days so that it prevents from hematoma or congestion of the skin. The total recovery period takes about three months and involves avoiding excessive abdominal work and sport activities.
Dr. Turkin advises clients to wear a compression garment which can shorten the recovery period, tighten abdomen and also secure the best possible results.
The Tummy tuck surgery takes approximately 4 hours and involves one major 25-30 cm incision and a small one around the navel. It is performed under a general anesthesia. Clients stay at the clinic for one day, in case it is necessary two days.
