After your breast reduction surgery
Immediately after the surgery, the patient is given gauze over the incision, normally compression bra is suggested to reduce swelling, unpleasant stinging sensations, and then milder discomfort.
Patients usually stay in recovery room for 2 hours after the operation has been carried out. Analgesics may be prescribed to relieve pain. Bruising or swelling might last for several weeks.
Getting back to normal after breast reduction
In general, patients are able to resume their normal activities within one weak unless their work involves strenuous exercise or heavy lifting.
Most scars are in areas covered by clothes. This is the reason why they do not bother patients.
Even if scars fade away over time and become less noticeable, their healing process and extent varies from person to person depending on the incision and/or skin.

Recommended stay
Normally, patients are advised to stay in hospital overnight. There are cases though, when the operation is performed as an outpatient procedure. Patients are then expected to stay in Slovakia for 7 consecutive days for postoperative check-ups.
