RHINOPLASTY SURGERY
There are two surgical methods available to perform the surgery.
Closed technique method
The traditional closed technique, where all the incisions are inside the nostrils and the newer, open technique, where an external incision is made on the columella.
Open method
The open method allows the surgeon to lift up the nose skin to get better view of inner structures. Through internal or external incisions, the surgeon does any number of procedures such a contouring the tip, shortening the nose, removing a hump, narrowing the nose by making cuts in the bone and grafting cartilage.

THE BEST CANDIDATES FOR NOSE SURGERY

You need to be patient since the nose is often narrower and nose tip tends to be higher. This conditions is being fixed within one month. The final shape is achieved in 1 year even 2 in some cases. It does not mean that the patient has to stay at home.
Most patients get back to normal life just after the cast has been removed without any negative reactions of people around. Sometimes they even do not notice that something has changed.
GETTING BACK TO NORMAL AFTER RHINOPLASTY
The first 48 hours after the operations, patients should sleep with their head elevated, refrain from wearing pullovers and wear clothes that button instead, keep their faces still and avoid blowing their nose. Patients can return to work 2 weeks after the procedure.
It is though advised to perform certain activities such as cycling or running only after 3 weeks and contact sports including football or volleyball after 6 weeks. Touching the nose is restricted early after the operation. Your surgeon will assist you and say if it is all right to touch or massage your nose. Using UVA and UVB filters is applicable.

PRECONDITIONS AND RISKS - RHINOPLASTY
Rhinoplasty patient (especially under general anaesthesia) risk the same complications possible with any type of major surgery. These include blood clots in the legs, or lungs, heart attacks, and bad reactions to anaesthesia . All these outcomes are extremely rare. Rhinoplasty also carries a small risk of postoperative bleeding and infections. The risk for aesthetic problems is higher.
The less common complications of nose surgery includes:
- Bruising and swelling - usually settles after 1-2 weeks, but sometimes can take up to a month or more.
- Wounds may take longer to heal, there may be some bleeding and infection may require treatment with antibiotics.
- A chest infection may develop after general anesthetic.
- In extremely rare cases, a blood clot may develop, which could be risky if it moves to the heart, brain or lungs.
- A sore throat may develop after breathing through the breathing tube used during anesthesia.
RECOMMENDED STAY - NOSE SURGERY
It is highly recommended to stay in Košice, Slovakia for 8 days, because the splint on the nose is changed on the seventh day after the surgery.
